The Community

There are 60,000 residents and over 500,000 jobs in downtown Los Angeles, meaning people come from all over the region for work, including employees of over 80 tech firms located here. Union Station’s Metrolink, Amtrak, and LAX FlyAway shuttle will get you to your destination without having to worry about traffic, and there are 5 metro stations downtown within walking distance of many residences.

Folks can grocery shop anywhere from small neighborhood grocers to Ralphs and Whole Foods, and if you love flowers, you will delight in the gigantic, wholesale Original Flower Market. Fantastic healthcare is available at Dignity Health-California Hospital Medical Center, and daily fitness is right at hand at a plethora of gyms, yoga and Pilates studios, and outdoor basketball courts for pick-up games.

Schools here are under the LAUSD, including some of the district’s great charter and alternative schools, including San Pedro Street Elementary, Ramon C. Cortines School of Visual and Performing Arts, and California Academy for Liberal Studies Early College High School.

The Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising and the Colburn School for music and the performing arts are downtown too. Work, education, health, beauty, and the arts are important pillars of the downtown community.
