Stockton

Connected to the San Francisco Bay via the San Joaquin River Delta, the city of Stockton is the farthest inland port in the West. Because of those cool delta breezes, Stockton has a milder climate than other cities in California’s Central Valley.

While there are big shopping centers in town, Stockton’s Miracle Mile District features over 150 shops, restaurants, and small businesses where you can buy a shirt, get your taxes done, and pick up a prescription all in the same place.

The city gets an A+ for diversity, and there are community centers and houses of worship reflecting many backgrounds and traditions. Attending different cultural celebrations is a great way to get to know your neighbors!

Commuters will appreciate Stockton’s Amtrak and Ace train service to San Jose and San Francisco, as well as the domestic flights offered by the city’s Metropolitan Airport.
