University of the Pacific’s main campus in Stockton draws college students from around the area to its 80 different majors and academic programs. UOP is Stockton’s largest employer, and film fans will recognize the University as the place where Indiana Jones taught archaeology.

Herrick Corporation, a steel manufacturer, and the Unified School District are the next largest employers. Annual events in Stockton include a Cinco de Mayo Parade and Festival, a Cambodian New Year Celebration, a Greek Food Festival, and the much anticipated “Stocktoberfest” every fall. You can also stroll the beautiful Japanese Garden at Micke Grove Park, one of the city’s beautiful public spaces, or enjoy the restaurants downtown along the waterfront.

High school students have the option of taking dual enrollment classes at San Joaquin Delta College to prepare for their careers or to transfer into a four-year program.
