When the silent film industry built a studio in Southern California in the early 1920s, the neighborhood that grew around it became known as “Studio City”. That original studio is now CBS Studio Center, the area's largest employer.
Some of the television shows that filmed here were Gunsmoke, Gilligan's Island, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Seinfeld, Will & Grace, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Yet despite its name, Studio City is actually a neighborhood of Los Angeles, just over the hill from Hollywood and bordered by Sherman Oaks, Valley Village, Toluca Lake, Universal City, and the Hollywood Hills.
Studio City's quiet residential streets draw those seeking privacy, and its central location makes it just close enough to the urban bustle, creating a perfect balance whether or not you're a celebrity!
